There is a list of Test Types, and their specific settings, in System Properties menu - Test Types tab.
Optical Test Types:
GENERIC_TEST and SYSTEM_QUICK_TEST, have been set up to be used for the Passive Optical Network (PON) Network Type.
LONG_LINE_TEST is has default settings for Long Line Network Type
COMMISSION_TEST is the test used when validating ports after setting up Test Configuration.
TONE_TEST and REFLECTOR_TEST has been set up for engineers to use in the field as they are building out.
An organisation can set up unique tests, selecting the best settings to match particular networks to optimize the best diagnostic results.
That said - it is important that skilled people should set an appropriate default test type for each route, and create new Test Types.
Using a Test Type which specifies point-to-point event detection for a route whose network type is 'PON' could be useful.
However there are more subtle incompatibilities which could degrade measurement and diagnostic performance.
